Romanian Center for Modelling Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (MORAS)

  1. Consultancy regarding the development of new production systems, feasibility studies, technical assistance in site selection, implementation of different production systems.
  2. Consultancy on the optimization/development of rearing technologies in aquaculture recirculating systems (RAS) for different crop species (sturgeons, salmonids, percids, silurides, cyprides).
  3. Pilot testing of different types of fish feed or feeding schemes.
  4. Pilot testing of the effect of handling environmental conditions (temperature, photoperiod) on the reproductive cycle.
  5. Training courses on the design and operation of the recirculating system.
  6. Testing and optimization of specific breeding or rearing technological phase for different aquaculture species.
  7. Pilot development of integrated production systems/aquaponic systems.
  8. Chemical analysis of water by continuous flow analysis (CFA). Development of new methods for identification and quantification of different pollutants in water.
  9. Studies on fish nutrition physiology through biochemical analysis, enzyme activity evaluation, nutrient retention efficiency.
  10. Assessment of the state of health and technological comfort in aquaculture species: evaluation of the erythrocyte reactions by determining the specific haematological indicators defining the fish metabolic blood profile, quantitative analysis of the leukocyte reactions to determine the physiological response in different technological conditions/stress, the biochemical profile analysis of the blood to determine the health status of the fish.
  11. Identification of fish pathologies. Identification of the etiological agent (infectious and parasitic) and establishment of the treatment schedule. These services comprise a wide range of laboratory diagnostic assays including bacteriology, micology, parasitology, descriptive histopathology and hematology.
  12. Study of kinematics and swimming performance in fish, studies on the physiology of aquatic organisms, metabolism and the effect of various environmental factors on swimming.
